Awesome opening track from 2010’s Brothers.

Kanye West feat. Pusha T-Runaway
Studio version of Kanye’s VMA performance choice.

Rarely does an EP emerge that is more than four of five tracks, much less eight, but that’s exactly what Sufjan Stevens’ All Delighted People EP is, and it’s hot off the presses. Enjoy!
1. All Delighted People (Original)
2. Enchanting Ghost
3. Heirloom
4. From the Mouth of Gabriel
5. The Owl and the Tanager
6. All Delighted People (Classic Rock Version)
7. Arnika
8. Djohariah

Otis Redding-Stand By Me
Perhaps better known when performed by Ben E. King, ‘Stand By Me’ appears on Otis Redding’s 1964 release Pain In My Heart. Otis’s version moves a little bit more quickly and has slightly different instrumentation, but all of the soul remains across both versions. Personally, I like to have my cake and eat it too, and that’s why I listen to both.

Chad Valley-Anything
I’ve been trying to get back into the swing of really summery, breezy songs lately, and Chad Valley’s ‘Anything’ delivers. With great production value and synth sounds, ‘Anything’ is perfect for any beach party playlist, and it sounds great in the car on the way to the beach too. Chad Valley is the side project of Jonquil’s Hugo Manuel, and if I had to describe his new sound, I would say it shines. Enjoy.

The XX-Islands
I recently made a spontaneous trip to NYC to try to catch a free concert in Central Park featuring the XX. Unfortunately, by the time I got there security wasn’t letting any more people into the venue, and the trip was basically for not. I was able to hear them pretty clearly from where I was standing, and I could see remnants of their light show. Basically, I’ve been listening to the XX a lot over the past couple of days in hopes of trying to capture what I can still only imagine is their on-stage presence.

Gobble Gobble-Boring Horror
Cecil from Gobble Gobble just sent me this awesome new track, ‘Boring Horror’, which I am really stoked about. This makes me more even excited to see them play live in early September.

The Strokes-Between Love and Hate
I revisited The Strokes’ Room on Fire album today, and loved the sentiment in ‘Between Love and Hate’. It’s a happy, driven rock song, but has such melancholy lyrics. Oh, and the guitar sound that Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr. create on this record is nearly perfect.

Evenings-Chesapeake
Another smooth tune from Evenings, this track along with others will be released on Double Denim Records as a 7”. Enjoy.

Beirut-Scenic World
Every time that I hear the opening bars of a ‘Scenic World’, a smile makes its way across my face, without fail. This track appears on Beirut’s Lon Gisland EP, which is the follow up to 2006’s Gulag Orkestar, and is also where ‘Elephant Gun’ appears. Enjoy.
“…when I feel alive, I try to imagine a careless life…
….a scenic world where the sunsets are all breathtaking…”
