Corey Hines told me that I needed to listen to this song through headphones, and upon listening to ‘North on 26’ for the first time through my noise canceling headphones, I was able to discover a rumbling bass line, filled with sustained notes that make your head rumble. On top of this was a steady, bass-heavy chord progression, peppered with lyricism dealing with memory, nostalgia, and the open road. Enjoy.

Roland is the project of Savannah, Georgia, residents Keenan Burant, Corey Hines, Ross Martin, and their friend Rusty Roland. They sent over a few tracks late last week and I just got around to listening to them and damn, did they catch me off guard. “Hotel Neon” is full of warm, breezy guitars while “Lay” is more lo-fi with quiet, scratchy vocals.
